TEMPE, Ariz. — Final: No. 3 Gonzaga 77, Arizona State 65. Graham Ike scored 20 points, including 11 in the first half and an electrifying dunk that pushed Gonzaga’s lead to 13 at the break. From 12:37 to 5:07 in the first half, the Zags went on a 25–7 run, controlling the paint with 20 first-half paint points.
Tyon Grant-Foster added a double-double, while Braden Huff and Adam Miller also reached double figures.
On the other side, ASU was led by Maurice Odum, who scored 12 and added seven assists. Massamba Diop, Santiago Trouet, and Anthony Johnson all reached double figures as well.
Gonzaga came into the game averaging 18.2 free-throw attempts but skyrocketed to 33 attempts in this one. It was a physical battle, as the teams combined for 44 fouls.
The big storyline for ASU was the three-point shooting. As Gonzaga owned the paint, ASU relied on the 3-ball, taking 17 attempts in the first half.
ASU couldn’t get it going offensively in the second half, struggling to find rhythm, but only lost the paint-point battle by eight — the best mark any team has posted against Gonzaga so far this season.
Up next: Gonzaga hosts Southern Utah on Monday, while ASU welcomes Georgia State.
