Jason Filippi has nearly two decades of NBA scouting experience and has focused on evaluating international prospects across Europe and worldwide. Jason has scouted players in over 30 countries throughout his career and attended major basketball events on five continents. Before joining Babcock Hoops, he worked as an international scout for the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat and was the Director of International Scouting for the Portland Trail Blazers. His expertise was key in selecting notable European players in NBA Drafts, including Pau Gasol, Nicolas Batum, Rudy Fernandez, Hedo Turkoglu, and Sergio Rodriguez.
In addition to his extensive scouting career, Jason has a media and player representation background. From 1995 to 1997, he was a basketball journalist and TV analyst for Virtus Bologna and Fortitudo Bologna in Italy, co-hosting the show Basket Time. He later transitioned into player representation as a sports agent with Group Italia, representing athletes from 1997 to 1999.
Jason’s basketball roots extend to his family. His brother, Adam Filippi, is also an experienced NBA scout.
A dual United States and Italian citizen, Jason is fluent in English and Italian and holds a degree from Bologna University. He currently resides in Bologna, Italy.
