No. 4 Arizona travels to Storrs, Connecticut, to face No. 3 UConn at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00 PM ET, with the game airing on FS1.
Arizona already owns a signature win over defending national champion Florida, while UConn is coming off a gritty 86–84 victory over an AJ Dybantsa–led #7 BYU squad. In the all-time series dating back to 1999, UConn holds the edge, winning five of the last seven meetings; however, Arizona won the most recent two in 2017 and 2018.
Two keys to watch: the frontcourt battle and the tempo.
Arizona features one of the top freshmen in the country, Koa Peat. In his collegiate debut vs. #3 Florida, Peat put up an impressive 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists on 11-for-18 shooting.
UConn counters with a veteran duo in Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed Jr. Reed has been dominant to start the season, averaging 20.0 PPG, 9.3 RPG, and 1.7 APG. The frontcourt matchup featuring Peat and Reed Jr. should heavily influence the outcome, and controlling the glass will likely be key.
UConn’s backcourt will also be crucial. Silas Demary Jr., a junior transfer from Georgia, is coming off a huge outing with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists in the win over BYU. If the Huskies clean up the boards and get strong guard play, they’ll put themselves in a good position.
Final Thoughts: One of the best games of the year, but I’m taking UConn in a close one.
