About

Matt McKay Jr. is the CEO and founder of Pro Insight, one of the top basketball outlets covering the game at all levels, with a particular focus on the grassroots scene. He leads the company’s day-to-day operations and drives its mission to provide unique and valuable insights on basketball prospects. Before founding Pro Insight, McKay was one of the original contributors to Babcock Hoops, where he played a critical role in scouting operations, influencing the company’s rankings, including its NBA Draft Big Board and Mock Draft, and contributing multiple pieces of written content.


With more than a decade of experience spanning the NAIA to the NBA, McKay previously spent six years in NBA front offices with the Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Hornets. While with the Hornets (2014-2018), he specialized in college scouting for the NBA Draft, intel gathering, and managing video operations to support roster improvement. Prior to his NBA roles, McKay worked at the collegiate level as a student manager at Westmont College and later as a manager and graduate assistant under Lorenzo Romar at the University of Washington, where he worked with future NBA players such as Isaiah Thomas and Terrence Ross. McKay earned his BA in English and a master’s in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington.


Based in Beaverton, Oregon, McKay resides with his wife Tracey, their daughters Sophie and Stella, and their puppy, Winnie.
